Welcome to the SCCVMB Command Center: Your Mission Briefing

Our mission is to provide a safe, high-quality environment for Veteran affairs and community culture.  By choosing our facility, you aren’t just renting a room – you are directly supporting benefits, resources, programs, and services  for our local Veteran community.

To ensure your “operation” is a success, please review our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

The Deployment Plan (Permits & Fees)

To secure your objective on the calendar, we require a clear flight plan:

  • The Application: Submit your Use Permit application before your event.  The earlier the better.

  • The Manifest: We require the full contact details and identification for all key personnel (promoters, managers, or corporate officers) involved in the event.

  • Rental Fees: All fees are calculated based on your specific needs: room type, equipment, cleaning, staffing, etc.

Guarding the Perimeter (Insurance & Security)

Safety is our top priority.  Every mission needs a security detail:

Liability Insurance: All renters must provide proof of insurance for no less than $1,000,000, naming the SCCVMB Board of Trustees and the County of Santa Cruz as “Additionally Insured”.

Security Personnel: If your event features alcohol or amplified music, a security detail is mandatory.

  • 2 officer minimum – 1 additional officer designated to the bar (for events including alcohol)
  • 1 officer per every 50-75 guests

Alcohol Protocol: We are a “Wine and Beer” only facility (no hard alcohol).  Any event serving alcohol must include at least one California Guard Card holding security officer.

  • $150 alcohol fee (when SCCVMB provides alcohol)

Logistics & Maintenance (Rules of the Hall)

To keep our “barracks” in inspection-ready condition, please follow these guidelines:

Operational Hours: The building is open 8:00 am – 11:00 pm (midnight on Friday and Saturday), but all activities must “cease fire” and end by 10:00 pm (11:00 pm on Friday and Saturday).

Leave No Trace: Renters are responsible for setup and breakdown.  Rooms must be left as they were found – this includes sweeping and wet-mopping as needed.

Protect the Deck: No dragging equipment across our wood floors.  No tape, tacks, or pins on the walls or floors unless specifically cleared by Command (SCCVMB staff).

Prohibited Items: No open flames, candles, or smoking in or around the facility.

  • Zero Tolerance: Absolutely:
  • No Guns, Knives or Weapons of Any Kind
  • No Smoking of Any Kind, to Include:
    • Tobacco, Marijuana, Vaping or E-Cigs
  • No Drugs or Paraphernalia
  • No Unauthorized Alcohol of Any Kind
