Innovation on the Front Line
For decades, we have held the line for the Santa Cruz County Veteran community, delivering thousands of successful outcomes and serving as a bedrock of support for those who have worn the uniform. But in an ever-changing landscape, tradition is our foundation, not our finish line.
We are constantly innovating and adapting our ‘Lines of Effort’ to meet the evolving needs of our Veterans and their families. We believe that the best ideas often come from those who have been in the foxhole. If you see a gap in the wire or have a vision for how we can better serve our ranks and the Santa Cruz community as a whole, we want your sitrep (situation report). We are a mission-driven organization that values the intel of our members. Help us evolve the mission so that no Veteran is left behind.
Veterans Village. Tactical Sanctuary.
We are dedicated to a future where the transition from the War Front to the Home Front is never a solo mission. For many who served across every era of war and peace, the return to civilian life is the hardest terrain they’ve ever had to navigate. When the uniform comes off, the battles of isolation, trauma, and the ‘invisible wounds’ of service don’t simply vanish, they change shape.
At the Veterans Village, we provide a secure perimeter for our nation’s heroes. We believe that healing happens best in the company of peers who speak the same language and have walked the same miles. We offer more than just a roof. We offer a community of brothers and sisters who understand that the bond of service is lifelong. Whether you are battling the echoes of combat or the challenges of reintegration, this is your staging area to find the support, stability, and camaraderie you’ve earned. Fall in with a community that leaves no one behind.
Veteran Service Day
-Every Wednesday-
Our most vital line of effort is the Wednesday Veteran Service Day. Every week from 0900 when the VA Medical Outreach Team begins seeing patients to 1400 when the HUDVASH meeting concludes, the Veterans Memorial Building serves as the primary staging area for the Santa Cruz Veteran community. In a unified operation led by United Veterans Council and supported by the VSO, the VMB, and a coalition of service providers, we ensure that those who served have the logistics and connection they need to hold the line.
The Mission: Logistics & Intelligence
- The Chow Hall: We provide a hot, high-quality meal (also available for takeout) and a fully stocked pantry to ensure personal logistics are secured.
- On-Site Intelligence (The Resource Hub): We host a rotating detachment of organizations and service providers on-site to connect you with earned benefits, resources, and support. Meet directly with representatives from the VSO (Benefits), VRSI (Employment), HUD-VASH (Housing), and VA (Medical) to ensure your OPTEMPO is mission-ready.
- Verification of Service: If you are ready to engage with these services, bring your DD-214, Veteran ID, or other form of Veteran status verification.
- Need to recover your records? Contact the Veterans Services Office (VSO) at 831-454-7276 for administrative support.
We never leave a comrade behind. Secure their place in history. Personalize your brick and cement a legacy that will never fade.
